Japan 'Herbivore Men' Abstain From Sex, Business Careers

As a result of Japan's languishing economy, a growing population of young adult males is deeming themselves "herbivores" and pursuing a radically different lifestyle than traditionally expected, Reuters reports. Herbivores derive their name from their disinterest in flesh–or the pursuit of women–and, according to a survey cited by Reuters, are a growing population of rebels who have no wish to follow in the corporate footsteps of their fathers.

"Since I was a child, I hated people telling me, 'Behave like a man'," said Roshinante, who runs a forum on popular Japanese social network site Mixi for frank discussion about herbivores.

Yeah, okay, Rosh. Just because you can't handle BEING a man, you drop out in a big way.

Look, I encourage and admire the people who think different, but let's be honest here. This group sounds like an excuse to go out and cut your johnson off and have a crying party. These guys should go out and get their first box of Tampax.

Puh-lease.

The reality is that I admire any group of people that recognizes that consumerism and mindless working for "the man" is not the way. Bravo for that.

But turning yourself into a wussy that can't handle women is not being a "rebel." Put one of these guys in a tough spot and he'd crumble like a wet taco.

The good news is that this group will be extinct in just a few years because they're not procreating.

Don't kid yourself into thinking that you're making a big "statement" here, boys. The only thing you're advertising is your own poor dating skills and desire to look pasty and unhappy.

Oh, and someone please tell me what "frank discussion about herbivores" is all about…? Is there something really shocking about them that most people are afraid to talk about? Gimme a break.
