{"id":917,"date":"2015-02-27T19:37:05","date_gmt":"2015-02-27T19:37:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.carlosxuma.com\/newsstand\/?p=917"},"modified":"2015-02-27T19:37:05","modified_gmt":"2015-02-27T19:37:05","slug":"what-i-learned-from-a-stupid-dress-that-everybody-fought-about","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.carlosxuma.com\/newsstand\/how-to-attract-women\/what-i-learned-from-a-stupid-dress-that-everybody-fought-about\/","title":{"rendered":"What I Learned From a Stupid Dress That Everybody Fought About"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I never thought I\u2019d get so worked up over a piece of women\u2019s clothing \u2013 until today.<\/p>\n<p>Women\u2019s fashion is the farthest thing in the world from stuff that I care about, but a female friend of mine sent over this story.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.carlosxuma.com\/alpha-attraction\/girlfriendtrainingprogram-97.php\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-medium wp-image-5456 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.attractwomen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/Unknown-660x748-265x300.png\" alt=\"Unknown-660x748\" width=\"265\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Who would have imagined I\u2019d get sucked into a pointless discussion with my friends over the color of a dress? But I did, and clicking on that story probably wasn\u2019t the best decision I made today.<\/p>\n<p>There are just some things you can\u2019t un-see, unfortunately. Who knows, maybe it was all part of a viral marketing scheme to promote a clothing label.<\/p>\n<p>And it looks like everyone and their mother \u2013 plus a handful of celebrities \u2013 got in on the debate (check out the Twitter and Tumblr comments in the article if you don\u2019t believe me).<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m not trying to get all existential here, but I got kind of bummed out with how much time people are willing to waste over heated \u201cblack and blue vs. white and gold\u201d arguments.<\/p>\n<p>That said, I\u2019m not here to give you my opinion on the color of that dress.<\/p>\n<h5>However, it did get me thinking about how easy it is to get caught up in the PETTINESS of things.<\/h5>\n<p>Take arguments with your girlfriend or wife, for example. How many times did a simple discussion with your lady escalate into a full-blown fight?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.carlosxuma.com\/alpha-attraction\/girlfriendtrainingprogram-97.php\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-medium wp-image-5457 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.attractwomen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/Couple-Fighting-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Couple-Fighting\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And how did it leave you feeling afterward?<\/p>\n<p>Stressed out? Drained, maybe?<\/p>\n<p>The next time you find yourself getting drawn into one of *those* discussions, just keep this in mind: <strong>look past the surface<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The thing about arguments is that they\u2019re NEVER as simple as they seem on the outside. And when you don\u2019t probe into the reasons behind those strong emotions, it\u2019s easy to make assumptions.<\/p>\n<p>Glossing over stuff like this could be the <strong>most dangerous mistake <\/strong>you can make in your relationship.<\/p>\n<p>Imagine you\u2019re enjoying your morning coffee with your lady, and then you say, \u201cIsn\u2019t that new sci-fi flick playing this week?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But then she tells you, \u201cHmm, I really don\u2019t care about that kind of stuff. I can\u2019t even tell the difference between Star Wars and Star Trek\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>So then you\u2019re like, \u201cGeez, I was just letting you know. You don\u2019t need to bite my head off.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Obviously she doesn\u2019t take that well, so she comes back with, \u201cHey, I\u2019m NOT the bitchy one here. Maybe you shouldn\u2019t be so touchy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Feeling defeated, you make a last-ditch attempt to gain the upper hand: \u201cOh yeah, I\u2019M touchy. Excuse the hell out of me for trying to making chit-chat\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Now, think about what I just said about looking past the surface. Even though it looked like you just wanted to talk about movies, what you really wanted to do was have a nice chat over breakfast.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.carlosxuma.com\/alpha-attraction\/girlfriendtrainingprogram-97.php\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-5459 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.attractwomen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/couple-not-talking.jpg\" alt=\"couple-not-talking\" width=\"260\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And when your lady said she didn\u2019t care about sci-fi flicks, did she really want to cut you off? Or did she just want to <strong>change the subject and keep talking<\/strong>?<\/p>\n<p>Feeling like she didn\u2019t give a crap about what you had to say, you accused her of being nasty with you. Naturally, she got defensive and said you were too sensitive about the whole thing.<\/p>\n<p>In the end, you got even more riled up by the counter-accusation and revealed (in a douche-y way) that you <em>just wanted to talk to her<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h5>So the lesson here is that you can save yourself a whole bunch of trouble by looking past the surface FIRST, then making a proper response.<\/h5>\n<p>That\u2019s why it\u2019s always a good idea to ask yourself, \u201cWhat am I NOT seeing here?\u201d since you\u2019re probably MISSING something at first glance.<\/p>\n<p>With that in mind, here\u2019s the better answer to her \u201cI really don\u2019t care\u201d comment:<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u201cThat\u2019s too bad, maybe there was another movie you wanted to see?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, your woman could have also told you, \u201cYeah, sci-fi isn\u2019t really my thing, but this new comedy flick looks hilarious.
